Palouse Brewing Company

We are in summer mode so it was suggested that I review a restaurant with great outdoor seating and a waterside view. Right away Palouse Brewing Company came to mind. Established in January of 2023, Head of Brewing Operations Bill Dernell has said that for the three owners it is not about getting rich, but that they wanted to bring a pub experience to the Palouse, where people come to socialize. Community plays a big role in Palouse and here at PBC. They do as much local sourcing for the restaurant portion of the company as possible, such as local beef. Farm to table, farm to glass, and highlighting what the area is good at. They even source water brought in from a local farmer’s well to brew with. They have their own beer on tap, and also showcase other local and regional breweries on guest taps. You’ll experience other Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Washington brewers! It’s nice to have places where local and regional producers are featured.  They are located at 335 E. Main St., Palouse, WA. Hours of operation are: Wed. & Thu. 12-8, Fri. 12-10, Sat. 11-10, Sun. Breakfast 9-1, Lunch/Dinner 1:30-8. CLOSED Mon. & Tues.


Regular Daily Specials abound; Wed. Steak Bites, Thur. Burger & Beer, Fri. Sat. & Sun.: rotating, check their social media! They even feature rotating specials for boxed lunches! Sorry no beer to go!

 

On the “Home Team” PBC taps there are a wide range of options: Quad-Trac Blonde, Smoked Porter, Palouse River Red, Palouse Pale Ale, Endless Summer Sessions IPA (lower ABV 5%, so more pints in a “session” of drinking), Wheet Heavy Wheatwine (careful! 9% ABV), Shwartzbier (dark but low ABV 4.5%) and Black Bear Oatmeal Stout, just to name a few. They also brew seasonal, occasional and experimental fun, so like and follow them on social media. You will thank me! 

Do not mistake this destination as just another beer parlor. PBC also keeps a great full- service bar, a seasonal cocktail menu that’s loaded with drink specials and all the classic cocktails as well (see what I did there? LOL!).

Oh, and wine selections for those that favor the grape! 


So, what’s to eat? In a word, plenty! They do Prime Rib Nites, and other featured dinners as well. I can’t dive into the Holiday Dinners and other Special Dinner Nights; suffice to say there are many on the PBC calendar and none have disappointed. My most memorable Valentine's Day Dinner was  with a 14-16 oz. Ribeye! 

On the regular menu my favorite appetizer is the cheese curds. If you like variety, try The Sampler that comes with  a big pretzel, cheese curds and 4 wings with beer cheese and ranch for dipping. The Charcuterie Pretzel is a slightly lighter option, it comes with fresh fruit, salami, cheese, nuts and tasty brewhouse sauce for dipping.  Even lighter you say? Fine, go with the Hummus Platter, it’s topped w/feta and served with garlic bread and veggies. I haven’t got to the Mozzarella sticks…yet.

The salads offered are yummy; Shredded Chicken Caesar, SW Crispy Chicken and BLT Chop. So many dressings and sauces to pair with. 

Burgers and sandwiches dominate the entrees, The Cuban is authentic: roast pork loin, ham, swiss, mustard and pickles on buttered, toasted and pressed French bread. Willie’s Cheesesteak is tasty and I’d love an option for provolone cheese, but I digress…just get it and enjoy! If you’re opting for a burger, Go Big and get The Hurt! If heat isn't on your menu, then go for The Classic or a Crispy Chicken Sando. Another very satisfying classic is Fish & Chips, very hard to beat when you’re feeling like seafood pub fare. The main thing is to enjoy and be a little adventurous. PBC has like ten sauces and dressings to try with anything, so why not?


Here’s my Pro-Tip: Get to Breakfast / Brunch on Sundays. Do it! The food is so tasty and the cocktail specials for brunch will have you swooning! Waffles, Baked French Toast, Chicken Fried Steak, Farmhouse Platters, Chicken & Waffles and Huevos Rancheros plus specials for breakfast on the regular! Tito’s Bloody Mary’s $7 dollars, and Bottomless Mimosas for $15 bucks. Please try and explain to me, what’s not to love?
