Orange Cardamom Coffee
Serves 4
½ C coffee beans, ground
⅛ - ¼ t ground cardamom
½ t cinnamon
¼ t nutmeg
4 cups boiling water
6 ounce Grand Marnier (optional)
Whipped cream
Orange zest for garnish
Put the ground coffee in a french press (or other coffee maker), and sprinkle the cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg over the top. Pour the boiling water over the grounds and let steep for 2-4 minutes. (If using a regular coffee pot, sprinkle spices on top of the coffee and brew like normal.) Divide the coffee and Grand Marnier, if using, into 4 mugs and stir. You can also sweeten the coffee to taste. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of orange zest, and serve.
You can tweak this recipe by adding orange zest instead of Grand Marnier. Just add zest from one orange to the coffee before brewing, along with the spices. And you could also try adding an ounce of rum to each serving.
